Liverpool Transfers: 5 January Signings To Get Back In Title Race
2. Konstantinos Mitroglou
If the games against Manchester City and Chelsea proved one thing, it was that Liverpool cannot match either side when it comes to attacking prowess, with the Reds simply outscored in both clashes. Luis Suarez, though he has been excellent since returning from suspension, was kept quiet in each game while the Reds have definitely missed Daniel Sturridge, who is out for an indeterminable period of time. In my view, Liverpool need TWO new strikers if they are to get anywhere near to winning the Premier League this season, as they are too over-reliant on Suarez, who is currently the club's only fit senior striker. Iago Aspas on his own is not decent enough cover and when you look at both of the Manchester clubs, they each have four top quality centre-forwards - Liverpool have just two. Brendan Rodgers should go in for Konstantinos Mitroglou in the New Year, with the Greece international making big waves at current club Olympiacos. The 25-year-old has netted 14 league goals in 10 appearances this season and 17 from 15 outings in all competitions, and is also on Arsenal's radar. Olympiacos coach Jose Miguel Michel recently admitted his side will struggle to keep the in-form forward as interest mounts, and Liverpool should certainly test their resolve to hang on to the prodigious finisher.
