Liverpool Transfers: 5 Midfielders Brendan Rodgers Should Sign Instead Of Tom Ince

2. Hatem Ben Arfa

Last month, the Daily Mail reported Liverpool were tracking Newcastle United's 25-year old attacking midfielder and were prepared to offer Andy Carroll as part-exchange in any deal for the Frenchman. Carroll became a cult figure at St James' Park during his five year stint with the club but has failed to cut the mustard at Anfield since his £30 million move, and has since been loaned out to West Ham. Ben Arfa meanwhile has not featured for Newcastle since December 10th due to a hamstring injury, but that has not prevented Brendan Rodgers adding him to his summer wishlist. With Newcastle currently toiling near the bottom of the Premier League, the Frenchman could be tempted to move to a club with Champions League ambitions.
