Liverpool Transfers - 5 More Strikers Reds Must Consider

5. Klaas Jan Huntelaar

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in Klaas Jan Huntelaar, while the forward has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few years, with rivals Tottenham and Manchester United reportedly keen at various intervals. A move may finally come to fruition this summer, however, with the Dutchman into the final year of his contract at current club Schalke. Huntelaar is set for talks over his club future as the Germans attempt to thrash out a new deal but with nothing yet set in stone, Liverpool could test Schalke's resolve to hold on to the 30-year-old. The ex-AC Milan attacker could leave for nothing in 12 months and the Reds could use this to their advantage to negotiate a cheap deal. The Netherlands international scored 12 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances last season and has been prolific in Germany, netting 172 times in 245 total appearances for Schalke. His age however makes any move to Anfield questionable, with Brendan Rodgers preferring to put his faith in youth. Still, he'd help carry some of the goalscoring burden dumped on Daniel Sturridge following the sale of Luis Suarez.
