Liverpool Transfers: 6 Potential Replacements For Luis Suarez

on-going saga featuring Luis Suarez. I put on Sky Sports News and they€™re talking about Luis Suarez. I go on Twitter and my followers are talking about Luis Suarez. I go to work and my Arsenal-supporting colleagues want to talk about Luis Suarez. It feels unavoidable to me and I€™m sure others feel the same way. But for all the talk, we don€™t actually have a clear idea of what is, and what might, happen. One thing we do know is that there is a very good chance Luis Suarez will not be a Liverpool player come the close of the transfer window on September 2nd. And if the Uruguayan does leave Liverpool this summer, he will need replacing. The money Liverpool receive in exchange for Luis Suarez could well be in excess of £50 million. If Liverpool are serious about breaking back into the Champions League they will need to spend that money wisely. They certainly will not want a repeat of the last day of the January 2011 transfer window when they received £50 million for Fernando Torres and then spent £35 million of it on Andy Carroll, who has now departed the club. Liverpool will want to sell Suarez far earlier than the last day of the transfer window so they can take their time buying a possible replacement. With no Champions League football it will be very difficult for Liverpool to bring in big-name signings as the top players need to be playing in the Champions League. But the January signings of Philippe Countinho and Daniel Sturridge proved there is still affordable quality available. Liverpool would be foolish not to have a constituency plan in place in case Luis Suarez does leave. That constituency plan could well include two direct replacements for Luis Suarez. The problem with replacing Suarez is that it would be near impossible to find another player who both creates and scores goals. Not only do Liverpool need to replace his 30 plus goals they also needed to replace his creativity. In 33 Premier League appearances last season, Suarez assisted five goals, created 90 chances and created 15 clear-cut chances. To replace him you may well need to buy two players; one goal scorer and one playmaker. Liverpool looked to have missed out on Roberto Soldado, who appears to be on his way to Tottenham Hotspurs, but click next for six other forwards Liverpool may turn to if Suarez leaves.
