A striker that Liverpool have reportedly looked at is Udinese€™s 22-year-old Luis Muriel. The Colombian is often compared to Brazilian striker Ronaldo due to their similar playing styles.

Muriel returned to Udinese last summer following two loan spells at Spanish club Granada and Italian side Lecce. During his debut season at Udinese last year Muriel scored 11 goals and assisted three in only 15 starts. In 2012 he was also named Serie A Young Footballer of the Year, an award he shared with AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy.

Although the Italian media are always comparing Muriel€™s playing style with that of Ronaldo€™s, another player who has a similar playing style is Liverpool€™s Daniel Sturridge. I would say Muriel is like a right-footed Daniel Sturridge. He has pace, power and directness just like Sturridge. We all knew Sturridge had the ability before flourishing at Liverpool but he had never done it consistently enough. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers managed to get the best out of Sturridge and I€™m sure he could do the same with Muriel. Liverpool€™s style would also suit Muriel. A problem with any potential transfer is that Muriel himself seems in no hurry to leave Udinese. He told Sky Sports Italia:

€œWe have talked about many clubs after me, but I said I wanted to stay here another year.€

However we all know things change very quickly in football. If Liverpool make a bid which Udinese like and Muriel likes the challenge at Liverpool then it can easily happen.
