Liverpool Transfers: 8 Players Klopp Must Sign

1. Virgil Van Dijk

Jurgen Klopp's liking for Southampton's Virgil van Dijk is such an open secret that, earlier in the summer, the Saints reported Liverpool for an alleged illegal approach.

After apologising, the Reds appeared to move on to more attainable targets, but that doesn't necessarily spell the end of their interest in the Dutchman, who is reportedly valued at about £60m.

Van Dijk has made it clear to his club that he wants to leave, and there's only so much you can do to placate an unhappy player - particularly without the promise of European football or the sort of salary he could easily make at one of the continent's big clubs.

This one could go down to the wire, but if Liverpool are serious about returning to the top of the tree they desperately need a centre-back who can command their leaky back-line.
