Liverpool Transfers: Ranking Brendan Rodgers's Signings From Worst To Best

4. Mamadou Sakho

One player who does show real promise is new recruit Mamadou Sakho. The 23-year-old has just joined the Reds in an £18 million deal from Paris Saint-Germain and along with Toure is one of the new players signed by Rodgers this summer who is tried and tested. Sakho has won three major trophies in his career - the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue, and is very much the real deal. Following the retirement of Jamie Carragher last season, Liverpool needed to bring in someone of real quality and Sakho is just that. Endowed with versatility, the flexible French international can play centre-half and left-back, giving Brendan Rodgers plenty of options in defence this season. Sakho has already been capped by France at senior level 14 times.
