People often say that every great team has a great goalkeeper, and on the flip side, a team will always struggle if the goalkeeper isn't good enough. Sadly for Liverpool, they currently fall into the second of those categories. When Mignolet saved a late Jon Walters penalty on the opening day of last season, on his league debut for the Reds, everything looked rosy. Pepe Reina had supposedly been replaced to perfection, and two more clean sheets straight after made it a dream start to life on Merseyside for the Belgium international. From that point on, however, the 26-year-old has struggled enormously at Anfield, and is continuing to cement his reputation as one of the worst 'keepers in the Premier League on current form. Liverpool finished second in the Premier League despite his unconvincing displays last year- admittedly he was slightly better in 2013/14 than this season so far- but this time around his ineptitude has been highlighted because Rodgers' men aren't firing at the other end of the pitch. His decision-making is poor, his use of the ball and general nervousness are enough to give even the most cocksure Liverpool supporter heart failure, and he simply gives the defence no confidence in any way. His shot-stopping has been the only positive, but quite frankly, if you're a top-level goalkeeper you should be able to save shots well. Mignolet is one of the biggest worries at Anfield currently, and if he doesn't improve drastically, he will have to be replaced.
