Man City: 5 Bold Decisions Roberto Mancini Must Make To Win The Title

2. Get Defensive Cover

An injury to captain and enforcer Vincent Kompany against Manchester United swung the game firmly in the favour of the reds, who quickly raced to a 2-0 lead. On in Kompany's place was Kolo Toure, who throughout this season and the last has looked an untrustworthy, leaky defender. Manchester United are so practiced in winning when playing badly that they can get away with playing Jonny Evans consistently, but City on the other hand will need a much stronger squad to reclaim their title. Joleon Lescott is out of favour, Nastasic is still bedding in, and Toure is quite definitely past his best. Although Kompany remains one of the top defenders in world football, Mancini will need more than just the Belgian to form a defence worthy of the title. Nastasic looks good enough to bloom into a very good defender throughout the course of this season, and should not be robbed of the chance to do it. But cover that Mancini can trust is what's required in January.
