Man City: 5 Reasons Pellegrini Won't Win The Quadruple

1. No English Side Has Done The Quadruple

The Manchester United treble-winning side of 1999 were lauded as one of the best club sides England had ever seen. This was not just because of the quality of their players, but because their achievements stood out in history. No club had ever done what they did, in winning the domestic league, FA Cup, and European Cup. For Man City to reach their target, they must do what no team has done since, and the League Cup on top of that. Roman Abramovich spent multiple millions at Chelsea, only managing a league and FA Cup double in 2010, and a Champions League in 2012 while finishing only sixth in the league. That shows how hard it is to win any trophy, let alone four in one season. If Man City do win a quadruple, be it this season or next season, it won't have been for lack of money spent chasing it. £90m was spent in the summer re-stocking an already expensively-assembled squad to their new manager's tastes. Should the unthinkable quadruple happen, it would be hard to argue against as English football's greatest achievement. Winning is one thing, but winning in such style, which has already been demonstrated, albeit with the help of a blank cheque, would be a joy to watch. Man City's manager and captain have signalled their intentions. It is now time to deliver. Do you think Man City can win the quadruple? Share your thoughts in the comments thread below.
