Between huge periods of upheaval, financial crises and even transfer embargoes, this transfer window offers Manchester City their only real opportunity to prize Pogba away from Juventus without sparking a hug bidding war. The right offer, made swiftly, could see the player arrive in time for their next Premier League fixture. From there virtually every other major club in Europe would be trying to play catch up. What's more, with plenty of talk about their alleged attempts to lure Pep Guardiola to the Etihad in the summer, laying down a marker by buying Europe's hottest talent would surely help to sway him. Or, at the very least, make the job whoever the next manger is that much easier.
