Man City Transfers: 8 Last Minute Signings That Could Happen

2. Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao)

To get over the line in a title race, the players on the fringes of the team are often as important as those in the starting XI. When Sergio Aguero plays, Manchester City will score goals, but when he doesn't it's an area they struggle with. Wilfried Bony has, for all his efforts, not been a success in this department, and Kelechi Iheanacho isn't quite at the right stage of his development to be relied upon. Manchester City have been - probably more than any other player in January - repeatedly linked with Spanish forward Inaki Williams. The striker hasn't been prolific for Bilbao this season, but is showing bags of potential and chipping in with key goals. Precisely the sort of player City are lacking. Reports from Spain indicate that City have held informal talks with Bilbao about the player but that, with the transfer window creeping shut, are yet to formalise their offer. Another injury to Aguero (however temporary) could likely derail their entire season and making a move for Williams would be worth considerably more than the upfront transfer fee
