Man Ud Transfers: 5 Players Louis Van Gaal Could Sign To Break British Record
2. Radamel Falcao
Manchester United may also be in the market for a new striker this summer. Robin van Persie showed signs of his former injury woes from his Arsenal days last season; Danny Welbeck isn't an out-and-out goalscorer; Wayne Rooney's confidence is on the floor following a disastrous World Cup campaign while Javier Hernandez will probably be sold. And that has led to United's interest in Radamel Falcao, who only joined Ligue 1 side Monaco last summer but has already grown unsettled in France. Falcao, who scored nine goals in 17 league appearances last season, has earned himself a reputation as one of European football's most prolific marksmen, scoring 72 and then 70 goals for Porto and Atletico Madrid, respectively. Falcao cost Monaco £50 million when he joined from Atletico 12 months ago and will be worth at least that much if he were to be made available for sale today. If United are keen on the Colombia international, it would take a British transfer record busting bid to being him to Old Trafford.
