Man United Departures Suggest Fergie Will Spend

Mid table Championship team Leicester City has signed Manchester United reserve pair Ritchie De Laet and Matthew James on three-year long contacts. Both players have left Manchester United for a chance of regular first team football. 23-year-old Belgian defender Ritchie De Laet found it difficult to break into the Red Devils squad, especially after United purchased Smalling and Jones. De Laet last played for Manchester in 2009-10 season making only 10 appearances in all competitions. Ever since then he has spent time at Sheffield United, Preston North End, Portsmouth and Norwich on loan. English midfielder Matthew James on the other hand hasn€™t had as much chance as his new teammate De Laet. James has never played in the senior time for Manchester United after coming up through the Manchester Academy in 2005. He has spent two seasons at Preston North End managing to play 30 appearances over the two seasons. City Boss Nigel Pearson has already a great opinion of the two signings,

"Both are hungry young players with winning mentalities. Ritchie and Matthew are both players we have been monitoring for some time and we are very pleased to be able to bring them both to the club. They will add considerable quality to the squad."

With the two younger players leaving Old Trafford and with Michael Owen being informed he will not be offered a contract extension one can only speculate if this means Sir. Alex Ferguson is planning to spend, spend, spend in the transfer window.
