Man Utd: 13 Memorable Moments From Alex Ferguson's 13 Glorious Titles

6. When Fergie Loved Brian

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsmyTAs9C9k Forget about Joey and Chandler or Kirk and Spock, one of the greatest bromances of modern times was that shared by Alex Ferguson and Brian Kidd. It may have all ended in acrimony (and relegation for Blackburn) but there was a time when the two were inseparable and played a key part in one of my greatest memories of United€™s title wins. This moment came against Sheffield Wednesday in 1993. Steve Bruce had scored the equaliser late in the game and then, deep into stoppage time, he scored the winner and the victory put United two points clear of Villa in the title race with five games to play. This result was so exciting and it gave them the belief to win the title for the first time in 26 years. This was an exciting and dramatic match in itself but my fondest memory of the game is Fergie and Kidd running onto the pitch like over excited dads at a kid€™s football match and then sharing an embrace in the stands. It was hilarious, touching and very memorable. Brian Kidd linked the modern era with the Busby era, as he scored in the club€™s first ever European Cup triumph in 1968. It was a shame that he ended his bromance with Fergie on a somewhat sour note. At least we will always have Wednesday.
