Man Utd 2-2 Fulham - 5 Things We Learned

4. United Have Lost Their Fighting Spirit

As poor as Fulham were yesterday, United weren't exactly at the races either and this result represents yet another depressing set-back for suffering Stretford End supporters. And it was the same-old-same-old because when Steve Sidwell found the back of the net after 19 minutes, it was the 13th time in the Premier League this term that United have fallen behind. Historically speaking, you'd always have your money on a Red Devils fightback - so many times in the past have this team fought back from behind to reverse the scoreline. United's history is built upon famous come-back wins, and when Robin van Persie equalised with 11 minutes to go and Michael Carrick put them in front, you thought they'd got out of jail again. But Fulham did to United what United have done to so many opponents over the years - snatch a last-gasp goal to salvage a result against all the odds. On eight of the 13 occasions United have fallen behind this season, they have been unable to turn the tables and fight their way back into the game. The champions have lost their fighting spirit and 'never say die' attitude, and there is a susceptibility in the ranks that has not been seen at Old Trafford for a good number of years. United look a pale imitation of the side that won the Premier League by 11 points last season, a side led by Sir Alex Ferguson who, unlike Moyes, didn't understand the word 'quit'.
