Man Utd: 5 Games That Will Define Their Season

2. Manchester City Home (EPL 01/03/2014)

There is no question about it, whatever the current form or position of both clubs, this is a must win for Moyes. Even if United don't win another game this season, a victory over City is vital for Moyes to prove he has what it takes at this level. A 4-1 thrashing to their closest rivals City back in September was a crushing blow to Moyes' reign at the club. They were dismantled by Manuel Pellegrini's team in a result that the United fans will struggle to live down. Luckily they have been beaten 6-1 by City recently so this pales into insignificance. A home fixture against City has to be a win however, with even a draw being seen as a failure against their bitter rivals. This is made worse recently by the fact that Pellegrini's side are starting to make people sit up and take notice of them following a 6-0 drubbing of Tottenham at the weekend. So much is at stake then when the two teams meet in March, that the match becomes an instant season defining game even before the campaign begins, and Moyes will have to make sure his side are ready for it.
