Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why Red Devils' Title Challenge Is Over

5. A Bad Summer Transfer Window

Moyes' spend for 2013 is looking like the most ill-judged transfer window in United's Premier League history. A last-minute Hail Mary spend on Maroane Fellaini, a failed attempt to bring in Leighton Baines, and a general lack of imagination on the part of manager David Moyes, combined with the noticeable absence of the magical presence of retired boss Alex Ferguson, has backfired badly on United. Fellaini has been an unmitigated disaster at Old Trafford, and Moyes, who had an entire summer to strengthen, has found out the hard way that his squad simply isn't as strong as it appeared. The only thing certain about the current transfer window is that Moyes is under severe pressure to make a buy that will actually strengthen the side. The news that Vidic is leaving this summer is an indicator that the news won't be as rosy as United fans might like to hear from this January window.
