Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why It's All Gone Wrong For David Moyes

1. The Sir Alex Ferguson Factor

Just as there was when Sir Alex Ferguson took over from Ron Atkinson in 1986, there is going to be a transitional period under David Moyes. The shoes he has had to step into following the retirement of Ferguson are huge and therefore expectations are overwhelming. Fans want to see him win the title in his first season in charge - and rightly so, this is Manchester United we're talking about. But that's perhaps unrealistic. United won the title last season with an average squad of whom Ferguson was somehow able to use his uncanny knack of grinding out wins to get them over the finishing line. They limped, huffed and puffed at times but the Ferguson factor was what ultimately won them the championship, just as it did in their previous 12 Premier League title-winning campaigns. Without the veteran Scot, United now lack a leader who knows how to get them out of a tight spot, and until Moyes learns how to do this, critics are right to expect one or two seasons in transition at Old Trafford. What do you think of United's worst start to a season in 24 years? Share your thoughts in the comment section, below.
