Man Utd Next Boss: 10 Replacements For Louis Van Gaal
3. Mark Hughes
One ex Manchester United player who does not get enough credit for his exploits as a manager is Mark Hughes. The Welshman had two spells in Manchester as a player, where he scored 120 goals. His most recent spell in Manchester was as manager of the blue side, but his reign came to an end when Manchester City's Abu Dhabi owners decided replace him with Roberto Mancini. Hughes was not considered a big enough name for Man City going forward and paid the price, but he has since rebuilt his career and his Stoke side is now a shadow of the one he inherited from fellow Welshman Tony Pulis. Unlike Eddie Howe, Hughes has shown he can manage big name players and would not be intimidated by the stars of Manchester United. Hughes should be considered as a candidate for the Manchester United job, but it is likely that he will lose the opportunity to manage a big club to a more reputable name in the world of football.
