Man Utd Next Manager: David Moyes Now Favourite To Replace Fergie

Ferguson today announced his retirement from management after more than 26-years in charge, and the hunt for his successor has now begun. Moyes is out of contract in the summer, meaning United wouldn't need to pay the Toffees any compensation and there would be no messy legal wrangling involved. The former Preston North End boss took over at Everton in 2002, but has stopped short of entering a 12th season in charge, preferring instead to wait until the end of the current campaign to make his final decision. The Toffee's manager has operated at Everton on a frugal budget since taking over but has enjoyed reasonable success, with the side going for their fifth top-eight finish in a row this season. Moyes's expertise in assembling a team of great togetherness and competitive spirit is also a quality admired by those championing him as the heir successor to the legendary Ferguson, as shockwaves continue to reverberate around Manchester in the wake of his announcement.
