Man Utd Transfer News: £5 Million Samuel Eto'o Move Prepared?

Metro. Eto'o is available for around £5 million with Anzhi looking to lighten their massive wage bill. The 32-year-old has also been on Chelsea's radar this summer with Blues manager Jose Mourinho keen on being reunited with the player he won the Champions League with at Inter Milan in 2010 should he fail with a bid for Wayne Rooney. However, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, United have also entered the running for the Cameroon international. The paper suggests that, should Rooney be granted his wish and be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, manager David Moyes will make a bid for Eto'o, with a meeting with the forward's representatives already arranged in England today. The main stumbling block in the champion's pursuit of the former Barcelona marksman however is Eto'o's giant salary with the Russians. The legendary striker will accept a slight cut to the wages he currently picks up at Anzhi but it still likely to demand £300,000. Meanwhile, forward Javier Hernandez has revealed he had the chance to leave United for Valencia this summer but has chosen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place.
