Man Utd Transfer News: Andros Townsend Could Make Shock Deadline Day Move?

Manchester United manager David Moyes is attempting to pull off a shock move for Tottenham winger Andros Townsend, according to the Mirror. Moyes attempted to sign Townsend on loan while he was in charge of Everton last season, and had also listed the midfielder as a summer target at Goodison Park before getting the United job. And now, the Scot wants the England international to help revive his new club's fortunes having watched his current group of wingers struggle this season. A source told the Sun newspaper:
Andros was one of Everton's summer targets before Moyes left. And the impact Andros has had in the first half of this season €” establishing himself at Spurs and making an instant impact for England €” has not gone unnoticed.
Antonio Valencia and Nani have struggled on the flanks this season while Wilfried Zaha has left on loan, which could put United in the market for a new winger this month. The source continued:
There is a view that he is seen as a longer-term replacement for the likes of Valencia and Nani on United's flanks.
Moyes may, however, have to wait until the summer if he wants to get his hands on Townsend, as the midfielder is a big part of Tottenham's plans this season. Spurs valued the player at £8 million last summer but his price could be treble that following some impressive showings for club and country this term. Moyes has also admitted it is unlikely his club will sign anyone else this month following the £37.1 million arrival of Juan Mata from Chelsea last week.
