Man Utd Transfer News: Fergie Wants Swansea's Neil Taylor?

Fergie sets his sights on Swansea's reliable full-back Neil Taylor.

Manchester Evening News. The 23-year-old up-and-comer began his career in the training academy of United's local rivals, Manchester City, and has been one to watch recently as a member of Stuart Pearce€™s Olympics team. Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson has struggled to find suitable support for Patrice Evra, and has stated that doing so is one of his top priorities this summer. However, it is the opinion of many that he would defer to Everton defender Leighton Baines, even if Taylor is unquestionably in his line of sight also. Taylor has demonstrated strong performances recently, both in his Premier League debut last term, and his stint during Team GB's Olympic quarter-finals chase. Swansea boss Michael Laudrup is currently batting away several major squads making advances on his key players, including Liverpool€™s play for Joe Allen, but he will have to make Taylor a tempting offer to keep him from joining Old Trafford. Taylor joined Swans from Wrexham in 2010, making 70 appearances for the squad. Though it has been reported that Ferguson has kept his eye on Everton's Baines, the comparatively cheap Taylor, who is also four years younger, might serve as a more long-term eventual replacement for Evra.
