Man Utd Transfer News: Gareth Bale Would Cost Red Devils £125 Million

Sun. Madrid remain favourites to sign the 24-year-old this summer but United believe they still have a chance of landing the Spurs star as his move to the Spanish capital is still not finalised. News broke yesterday that Tottenham are considering a rival bid for the Wales international and Red Devils manager David Moyes fuelled speculation that it was his club that made the offer by saying:

€œI said when I got the job that Manchester United will always be interested in the best players and we€™re always looking to improve the team. €œIt€™s been tough in this window but we€™re always looking at the best players. I can€™t say any more.€
The Premier League champions could still be in the running for Bale after Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was left furious with Real for building a stand of which to "reveal" the midfielder at the Bernabeu before a deal has been signed. The Spanish giants also started selling No.11 shirts with Bale's name on the back on their official website but this item has since been removed from the site's online shop. Bale himself fuelled speculation that he could sign for United instead yesterday when he flew back to the UK from Spain, though this trip was planned and the player remains confident a move to Madrid will happen. However, Bernabeu officials are wary of the rival bid with president Florentino Perez fearing the move could collapse as one of this summer's most enduring transfer sagas took an unexpected twist. French moneybags Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be monitoring developments.
