Man Utd Transfer News: Karim Benzema Is Wayne Rooney Replacement?
according to The Sun. They claim the French international forward is being eyed by Moyes as a replacement for Wayne Rooney. Newly installed manager David Moyes hopes to cash in £25 million on Wayne Rooney and use that to complete a £30 million deal for Karim Benzema. Rooney, 27, was originally given a first-team debut by Moyes at the age of 16-years-old at Everton and The Sun claim Moyes will sort out his forward's future as first priority as new Red Devils' boss. Rooney has been unhappy for many weeks after being forced to play out of position and he met with Fergie several weeks ago to vent his frustration. Last season Ferige had a huge amount of talent available with Robin Van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck all contributing to lifting their 20th league title, and Moyes hopes to add more talent to the forward line by approaching Benzema, who has two years left on his Madrid contract. Karim Benzema has been on the watchlist of Manchester United scouts since the club tried to originally buy him in 2009, but where beaten to the deal by Real Madrid who paid £35 million for the Frenchman. The Real Madrid striker has scored 19 goals and created 20 assists in his 47 club appearances this season, which isn't as prolific as his last season where he netted 32 goals in 52 games.
