Man Utd Transfer News: Lewandowski In Fergie's Sights

Telegraph Sir Alex Ferguson and his assistant Mike Phelan will be at the Etihad Stadium tonight in order to watch and run the rule over Poland international Robert Lewandowski play for Dortmund against Man City in the Champions League. The same report suggests that Dortmund know of Sir Alex's interest in the 24 year old Pole and actually rejected the possibility of selling the player in a deal worth around ‚20million in August, before United went and bought Robin Van Persie for £22m from Arsenal. His versatility is seen as a key factor that would allow him to fit into the United squad, as Sir Alex is interested in flexible players who can perform in more than one role. Dortmund might not have been interested in a deal then for the player who has scored 31 goals in 72 games, but the Telegraph state that with Lewandowski making it clear that he will not sign a contract extension on his current deal that ends in June 2014, and the club's current business model preventing them from paying huge wages, selling the star striker in the summer is the preferred option. That comes after United, who have emerged as Lewandowski's likely destination, took advantage of Shinji Kagawa's contract situation to sign the Japanese midfielder for £17m this summer. The Telegraph are suggesting that United are looking to Lewandowski, amid mounting fears concerning the futures of Nani, who isyet to sign a new contract at the club and who is short of form and Hernandez, who has struggled for form recently and slipped down the pecking order behind Rooney, Welbeck and new signing Van Persie. What do you think United fans? Would you welcome the signing of Lewandowski? Share your thoughts below.
