Man Utd Transfer News: Lucas Moura Hopes Dashed

Moura looks set to stay at Sao Paolo unless United up their offer.

Despite Old Trafford's keenness to sign Brazilian wunderkind Lucas Moura, it is looking like Sao Paulo are set to offer the young player a tasty new deal. Man Utd have had set their sights on Moura throughout the summer, yet their bid of £26.5m was rejected just last week, with Sao Paulo reportedly holding out for an amount closer to the region of £35m. Moura appears to have kept himself insulated from the hubbub, and is currently kept busy in Stratford, playing in Brazil's Olympic team, and has refused to discuss his future plans until he has completed his current duties with his national home team. Adalberto Baptista, the director of Sao Paolo's football, however, claims that Lucas is likely to sign a prosperous new deal with the squad. Baptista told UOL:
"It€™s possible we change his contract. He has four more years of contract. We may call him to extend, renegotiate his contract, maybe for 18 more months."
Media reports also surfaced that Moura's parents had travelled to London to help him negotiate a move to United, but this has been dismissed promptly with the reasonable explanation that they are only here to see their son play at the Olympics. It's now up to United or other squads to raise their offer or risk losing him altogether. Show your support for United with one of the exclusive Manchester United credit cards from mastercard.
