Man Utd Transfer News: Robin Van Persie Latest - £22 Million Bid
Manchester United look set to offer £22 million for wantaway Arsenal skipper.
the Sun, Arsenal have admitted defeat in their attempts to retain Robin van Persie after Manchester United look set to offer £22 million for the striker. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been chasing Arsenals Robin van Persie all summer and despite the clubs best efforts to keep the 29-year-old at the Emirates, it seems Sir Alex has offered a deal that cannot be refused. The deal, which is reportedly worth £22 million, looks to be the best options for Arsenal, especially when considering the Dutchman could leave on a free at the end of the season. The deal looked to have gone stale when Robin van Persie found himself playing in Arsenals 4-0 win over Cologne last Sunday although as the game progressed, the PFA player of the year found himself unwelcome on the pitch as the new signing Lukas Podolski had already stole the limelight scoring twice. Sir Alex Ferguson has been absent from the Manchester United tour on two occasions dealing with club business. Whilst Robin van Persie is on Fergies summer list, so is Robert Lewandowski who is also close to a Manchester move. If Sir Alex was to sign either Van Persie of Lewandowski this would put huge pressure on Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck and Dimitar Berbatov who are all fighting for a spot next to Wayne Rooney. Arsenal look to have been backed into a corner as Manchester United close in on the deal, the £22 million offer is too much to turn down and whilst the fans now seem to be happy for him to leave, United fans look set to welcome another great addition to their squad.
