Man Utd Transfer News: Wilfried Zaha Signs

Daily Mail. Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the 20-year old was having a medical ahead of the move and will be loaned straight back to the Championship side until the summer. The United manager said:

"We are signing a player of potential. We always feel we develop players well. We have proved that many times. We hope the boy enjoys coming here, when he comes in the summer."

Crystal Palace are 4th in the Championship at present and are pushing for promotion this season, and it was thought that an agreement for the player's loan back to the club for the remainder of the season was crucial for the deal to go ahead. Zaha added:

"I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation. "I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible, however my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace. "I have been at Palace for more than 10 years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them get back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me."

Zaha is set to join his new United team-mates for their pre-season tour in July, and is signing a five-and-a-half year contract worth an initial £35,000-per-week at Old Trafford, with significant rises throughout his spell at the club. The winger's first senior game for his new club - providing that United have won either the Premier League or FA Cup by the time he arrives - could be in the Community Shield at Wembley in August. Ferguson has told the winger he will be a first team regular by the time he arrives at Old Trafford, which raises uncertainty over the future of his current wingers, particularly Nani.
