According to the Daily Star, Fredy Guarin is firmly on Van Gaal's radar as an alternative to first choice Arturo Vidal after the Inter Milan midfielder was made available by his club. With Van Gaal looking to further bolster his midfield options - and somewhat playing catch-up to some of the other contenders for a European place - there's no reason that United can't look at bringing both in, particularly as Guarin would be comparatively affordable. Inter boss Walter Mazzarri has identified the Colombian as surplus to requirements, despite the box-to-box midfielder's ability and his contract extension back in March. The player apparently wants to move to Old Trafford, again according to the Star, and is willing to snub a move to Zenit with his price set at £10m.
