Manchester United were involved in a bizarre pursuit of Ander Herrera last summer. The Athletic Bilbao midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford but the deal fell into farcical territory when it emerged the lawyers sent by United to broker the deal were impostors. The proposed £30 million transfer collapsed as a result but United are again set to try their luck this month, according to Spanish sources. Creativity, or a lack of it, has been an issue for United this season with Tom Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa struggling to hit their strides, and Herrera could be just the spark the champions need.
