Man Utd Transfers: 10 Former Players Van Gaal Must Bring With Him

1. Arjen Robben - Bayern Munich

The most virulent and intriguing rumours attached to the news that Van Gaal was very likely to join United came in the shape of the possibility that he would immediately look to reuniting on a club level with Arjen Robben, who he took to Bayern Munich from Real Madrid when he joined the club as coach in 2009. A deal to bring the 30 year old to Old Trafford would apparently cost something in the region of £25m (which is more than what Bayern paid for him almost 5 years ago), but he would remain a strong investment thanks to his experience in the Premier League and his continued fitness and condition. Most importantly of course, Robben is the key to linking midfield play up with the attack, and his existing relationship with Robin Van Persie should surely be considered an asset if the deal comes off. Robben is thought tobe one of the players that Bayern are looking tosell in order to offest Guardiola's rebuilding process after a relatively devastating Champions League campaign, and though there is previous between United and the player (not least in the Champions League), his value to the team should immediately trump any remaining bad blood. Which of these former Van Gaal players do you think the Dutchman should go after when he signs his United contract? Are there other possibilities who deserve mention?
