Man Utd Transfers: 10 Former Players Van Gaal Must Bring With Him

5. Georginio Wijnaldum - PSV

Back in January, Liverpool were reported to be chasing 23-year-old PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, following summertime interest from Arsenal, and it's not difficult to see why two top Premier League clubs have been drawn to the player. Back in the winter, the player insisted he was happy to stay in Holland until the summer, despite a mooted £9 million bid from Brendan Rodgers, but there's every possibility that he will choose to move on this summer with interest hyped further by a strong season that saw him named PSV captain. The 22-year-old Dutch international initially started out at Sparta Rotterdam and then came through the ranks at Feyenoord, becoming their youngest player in the league before moving to PSV for £4m in 2011. He is an agile attacking midfielder - thanks in part to a background in acrobatics - who is now in the senior international picture under Van Gaal, and though he is a comparatively unknown uality compared to some of the other options here, his talent is formidable, and if Van Gaal could link him up with a strong defensive midfielder and the likes of some of the attacking midfielders he is being linked with (plus Mata and Januzaj) he could be a true great.
