Man Utd Transfers: 10 Players To Replace Louis Van Gaal's Outcasts
10. Nathaniel Clyne
To Replace: Rafael Manchester United have already turned to Southampton for defensive reinforcement once this summer - and they could do so again as they eye up a replacement for right-back Rafael. United have signed teenage left-back Luke Shaw from the Saints and now they could look at bringing in former colleague Nathaniel Clyne to partner him at the back at Old Trafford. United came close to signing Clyne in 2012 during his days at Crystal Palace but the fullback has since revealed he turned down a move to the Red Devils in favour of a move to the south coast, where he believed he would get more playing time. The former England U-21 international has since gone to put in a series of strong performances while at St Mary's and United could renew their interest should they be in the market for another right-back. At 23 Clyne has his best years ahead of him and fits the blueprint United use to sign new players in that they have a good track record for buying youngsters and developing them into future stars of the game. The Saints have already sold a plethora of players this summer however and may not be willing to lose another.
