2. Will Hughes
At 17, Will Hughes is the youngest replacement-elect on this shortlist. He seems to show a maturity far beyond his years and has been able to cope well with the high demands of the Championship. The best part is that he is English, so all the more reason to join United! He has received high praise from both his club manager Nigel Clough and England U-21 manager Peter Taylor regarding his creatvity and his teamwork characterised by mazy runs to aid team mates or the occasional blaster from 30 yards. He is currently being rested by Clough to reduce the stress on his body, which will benefit him in the long run, allowing a relaxed and refreshed Hughes to take the field next season or possibly sooner in Sweden at the U21 European Championships. Exposure of him, has got the scouts working overtime on him at top clubs and this rest may give those at United a chance to approach Clough for a deal to be penned between the two clubs. At this current moment, a quartet of English CMs is rising, giving hope to the fans of the national teams. It is just left to give Hughes a platform to match his vast talent like Wilshere, Cleverley and Powell, who are the other three.
