Man Utd Transfers: 10 Talented Players Who Utterly Failed At Old Trafford
9. Paul Pogba
To be fair on Pogba, it wasn't his fault at all that he failed to display his talent at Manchester United. That talent was obvious, as highlighted beautifully when he scored what has been described as a 'piledriver' against Portsmouth in the FA Youth Cup. The French wonderkid starred in United's youth system and became an integral part of an under-18s squad, which won the 2011 Youth Cup. He was called up to the first team at the start of the 2011-12 season by Sir Alex Ferguson, playing in the reserves before making his first team appearance against Leeds United in the League Cup. Following that, Pogba was only given the chance to show his ability four more times before upping sticks and moving to Juventus after being offered £20,000 a week. Sir Alex initially had too little faith in Pogba's potential brilliance, which is mind-blowing given his credentials at spotting talent and Pogba left under a cloud, having felt 'disrespected,' and is now worth an estimated £60million and could potentially be one of the world's best midfielders after starring for France at the recent World Cup. It is thought that United are interested in bringing the midfielder back to Old Trafford for another go, no doubt for a monumental salary and bonuses galore, but they will always be haunted by their failure to recognise his talent straight away.
