Man Utd Transfers: 10 World Cup Stars To Target This Summer

10. Ezequiel Garay

One of the first orders of business for Louis van Gaal when he finally takes the Manchester United hotseat is to rebuild a defence decimated by the departures of centre-backs Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. The likes of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are not capable of taking the aforementioned duo's place in our starting XI and reinforcements are definitely needed. And one option is Benfica's powerful centre-half Ezequiel Garay, the defender who starred in last night's Europa League final and who will be representing Argentina at this summer's World Cup. At 6'2" the 27-year-old draws comparisons to both Ferdinand and Vidic due to his imposing stature while he also has a commanding aerial presence, and has been one of Benfica's stand-out performers this season, helping them to their 33rd Portuguese league title. Garay has admitted he does not know where he will be playing his football beyond this summer and if he has a successful World Cup, he certainly won't be short on offers.
