Mats Hummels will be representing Germany at this summer's World Cup and is another target we have identified to replace Rio Ferdinand at the back next season. The Borussia Dortmund defender has been a key figure for his club in recent years, helping them to last year's Champions League final, and at just 25, already has reams of big game experience under his belt. Early reports indicate we are looking to sign the German before the World Cup gets underway next month, so as to avoid a bidding war if the centre-half enjoys a successful tournament. An attacking defender, Hummels is known for playing out of defence and starting attacking moves for his side, while he is also strong, quick and good in the tackle, with his interception skills particularly notable. If we could sign both Garay and Hummels this summer to replace Ferdinand and Vidic, we'd be well on the way to rebuilding our squad ahead of next season.
