4. Luka Modric
Manchester United could rescue Luka Modric from his La Liga nightmare this summer by making a £24 million bid for the 27-year-old Croatian. The English champions
have been linked with a move for the Real Madrid midfielder in recent months, and the ex-Tottenham man could be keen on a return to England, just a year after quitting White Hart Lane. Mordic was named one of the worst Spanish signings of the season along with Barcelona's Alex Song, having managed just three league strikes. United wanted to sign the creative playmaker last summer but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy didn't want to strengthen a rival, and ended up selling him abroad instead. But the Red Devils could at last land their man with David Moyes said to be a big fan. Modric could be the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes in that he possesses great vision and passing abilities. He scored the equaliser in Real's last-16 Champions League tie against United before Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner to knock Sir Alex Ferguson's men out of the competition.
