5. Yohan Cabaye
Last month, Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye
emerged as a £15 million target for Manchester United, who at the time had just missed out on Thiago Alcantara, who opted for a move to Bayern Munich instead. Cabaye has consistently been one of the Magpie's better players following his switch from Lille in 2011, scoring 11 goals and providing the same number of assists in his 73 appearances for the North East club. United have been in desperate need of a box-to-box style midfielder and Cabaye - who is also known as a set-piece specialist - would seem to be the type of player the Red Devils are looking for right now. There has also been interest in the midfielder from the continent however, particularly France, where big-spenders Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain are admirers. The 27-year-old still has three years left to run on his current deal at St James' Park but the lure of regular Champions League football could prove tempting - as would the promise of a regular challenge for the league title. The player became disenchanted with life on Tyneside after Newcastle narrowly avoided relegation last season.
