Back in October, a FIFA agent dropped a heavy hint that Manchester United could be in the race to sign Karim Benzema in the New Year. Francois Gallardo, a respected agent for football's governing body, said:
"A very important Premier League club is after Karim. "This club wants the transfer to happen this winter, but if this is not possible, then next summer at the latest. "The offer will be around ‚50 million."
United are known admirers of Benzema and made repeated attempts to sign him under the Sir Alex Ferguson era, but to no avail. Could they be about to make yet another attempt in January?
