Man Utd Transfers: 5 MUST BUY Signings To Rebuild Red Devils

4. Ilkay Gundogan

Midfield is another area where commentators all agree that United are lacking creativity. Borussia Dortmund's Gundogan has been out with a back problem since the start of the season, but remains on the radar of several top European clubs. Red Devils manager Moyes is a fan of Gundogan, 23, and will offer £24 million to bring him to Old Trafford in the winter window, claims the Sunday Mirror. The player has 18 months left on his current deal at Dortmund and Jurgen Klopp wants him to make his mind up about his future. Of Turkish descent, Germany international Gundogan is another player that will need minutes on the pitch in the second half of the season if he wants to make the World Cup. Barcelona and United's Premier League rivals Arsenal remain keen on him as well. Gundogan provided elegant protection for Dortmund's back four en route to the Champions League final last season. He is more than a midfield destroyer though as he is capable of playing further forward because of that passing game. Moyes needs a player that is more comfortable on the ball than his current options to partner Michael Carrick. Composure in the engine room would be a welcome addition.
