4. Yann MVila
One of the most sought after players in Europe, Yann Mvila undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of him. A lightning quick and technically exceptional player, the Frenchman also possesses excellent defensive abilities and exceptional physical strength for a man who is still only 22. If you analyse the most successful club and international sides over the past decade, there are players such as Vieria, Essien, Makelele, Keane, Busquets, De Jong who have been indispensable in making their teams defensively unyielding and protected in order to give freedom for the players that find themselves further forward to express their talents. Chelsea did it last season with Mikel and Meireles, and the success that they found was nothing short of astounding. MVila fits the mould of this role perfectly, but if United want to secure his signature, they will more than likely have to spend big. A proposed move to Arsenal appeared to be a done deal in the summer, but for unknown reasons the player did not sign on the dotted line for the Gunners. Imagine a five-man midfield with the likes of MVila, Carrick, Kagawa, Young and Valencia. This combination of players, or a variation on it, would arguably make Uniteds midfield one of the most formidable in Europe on paper. The Red Devils require a presence in the middle of the park that intimidates the opposition, and MVila is certainly that.
