Man Utd Transfers: 5 Reasons Why Moyes Should Sign Cristiano Ronaldo In January

5. The Need For Ed Woodward/David Moyes To Redeem Themselves

When Sir Alex Ferguson finally announced his retirement from football earlier this year, there was always going to be a transitional period at Manchester United, for how do you replace the legendary Scot? That period of upheaval was made all the more difficult with the added factor of David Gill's decision to step down as chief executive. Gill was just as instrumental in bringing success to United as Ferguson was and both have left a void at Old Trafford, one that has been filled by David Moyes and Ed Woodward, neither of whom have exactly covered themselves in glory since taking charge in their respective positions. A poor pre-season that saw the Reds win just two of their seven games put the pressure on Moyes while the shocking failings in the transfer window has led to calls for Woodward to be sacked. It's clear that both need something of a boost to win over fans following a troubling start to their careers at United and there is no boost bigger than the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. Should "CR7" arrive at Old Trafford in January, United's fallow activity in the summer market would swiftly be forgotten about - as would Moyes' and Woodward's inefficiencies.
