5. United Need To Keep Rooney

There are various problems posing any potential move for Falcao. Chief among them is how will Ferguson manage to fit Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney into the same side as the Colombian? One of these four players are going to have to make way and it is the latter who is most likely to end up on his way out of Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney's United future has once more been cast into a shade of uncertainty and his omission from the starting XI against Real Madrid in the Champions League last month once more raised a few uncertain eyebrows. You also have to wonder how Ferguson is going to fund his £50 million move for Falcao. Rooney has been a rumoured transfer target of cash-rich Paris Saint Germain
recently and any big-money offer they make for the England international is likely to fund at least part of United's move for Falcao. But should United even contemplate selling Rooney? A little over a year ago, that would have been utterly unthinkable. Prior to the emergence of Van Persie, Rooney had been at the centre of all United's success and an integral cog in Ferguson's side. His work rate both on and off the ball and his ability to track back, defend and even play in midfield when required makes him a key player for United. Can the Reds do without him? I'm not so sure.
