Man Utd Transfers: 5 Reasons Why The Reds Don't Need Falcao

4. Danny Welbeck Needs Time To Develop

Falcao's arrival at Old Trafford would not only cause Wayne Rooney problems, but it would also hinder the development of Danny Welbeck. The 22-year old has struggled to break into United's starting eleven this season and has only made seven full appearances for the Reds throughout the current campaign. The likes of Rooney, RVP and even Javier Hernandez have kept the England international on the fringes, and the arrival of yet another big-name forward would be disastrous for his progression at the Theatre of Dreams. Welbeck has only scored the one league goal for United this season and his goal-scoring record is scarcely going to improve next season if he is once more kept on the sidelines. Even if Rooney goes, Ferguson would merely be handing Welbeck's starting place to another world class forward, and as for putting him on the wing - the arrival of Wilfried Zaha and the continued presence of Young, Valencia and Nani suggest there will be very little room, if any for him at Old Trafford.
