Man Utd Transfers: 5 Reasons Why Wayne Rooney Will Quit

4. Sir Alex Ferguson's Departure

Of course, fans will remember this isn't the first time Wayne Rooney has asked the club to leave. In 2010, he demanded to be sold due to his concerns that the club didn't match his ambitions. The only difference this time is that the England star has stopped short of handing in a written transfer request - for the time being - and has only verbally asked to leave. He was convinced to stay last time and there's one reason why - Sir Alex Ferguson. Rooney even admitted as much at the time when he said:
"I am delighted to sign another deal at United. In the last couple of days, I have talked to the manager and the owners and they have convinced me this is where I belong."
Now that Ferguson has retired, will Rooney again by convinced to stay? The Scotsman played a huge part in keeping him at the club last time round but now that task will be left to soon-to-be-confirmed new boss David Moyes. The two haven't had the best relationship in the past, which we will touch on later, and it remains to be seen if the Everton chief can get Rooney to buy into his new dynasty at Old Trafford.
