3. Ander Herrera
United tried to sign Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera on transfer deadline day but the move fell through
under bizarre circumstances. The Red Devils are badly lacking a creative force in the middle of the park and Marouane Fellaini is not the answer in those regards. United fans must have been screaming when they saw Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger land Mesut Ozil on deadline day because the German is exactly the type of player the champions are crying out for right now. With Paul Scholes retired, coupled with the failure to bring in Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona, the Reds are lacking that touch of magic in midfield. Herrera could bring that extra spark to the side if signed in January, and would add fresh impetus to an engine room that is virtually being dragged along kicking and screaming by Michael Carrick alone.
