Cesc Fàbregas away from his favourite team to Old Trafford. Barcelona changed at the top this week but new manager Gerardo Martino has said there is no chance of Manchester United signing the former Arsenal star this summer. Here are six other players Manchester United should go looking to fill the void in the centre of their midfield following the retirement of Paul Scholes:
6. Ever Banega (Valencia)
Debt-ridden Valencia have suffered over the past couple of seasons with a number of their top players being sold on (Jordi Alba, Pablo Hernández, Juan Mata, Joaquín, David Villa and David Silva) to raise funds for the Spanish giants. They also missed out on Champions League football for this season so potentially the attraction of Champions League football for Ever Banega is a selling point for Manchester United. The Argentine international midfielder is a good playmaker in the middle who can play in both the middle of the park and contribute to the defence as well as being pushed up more in the role currently occupied at Old Trafford by Shinji Kagawa. Banega doesnt chip in with a great number of goals but its his passing ability that makes him a star.
